The North Country National Scenic Trail is the longest hiking path in the United States. Stretching 4,600 miles over seven states, the trail, though still under construction, passes through the Douglas County Forest and Brule River State Forest. With many trailheads along its route, it has become a favorite for many local hikers. The Brule Boardwalk trail, just north of Solon Springs, is a recently constructed portion passing through Cedar bogs and open forest.
